Abstract
In this study the genetic parameters of husk tomato (Physalis ixocarpa Brot.) cv. Verde Puebla were estimated. A set of 100 half-sib families was evaluated in Chapingo, Tecamac y Santa Lucía, State of México, in the Spring-Summer season 2000, using a randomized complete block design with three replications, and 11 plants per experimental plot. Heritability of the seven characters studied ranged from 31.9 to 68.7 %; the genetic additive variation coefficient varied between 13.7 and 29.6 %, and 57.2 and 29.6 % for total yield. Total yield showed high and positive genetic additive correlations with number of fruits (0.86), first harvest yield (0.97), second harvest yield (0.98), and number of harvested fruits per plant (0.88), thus indicating that these traits were the most important yield components.
