Abstract

The objetive of this study was to determine the site index for Pinus herrerae Martínez at the forest region of Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán, México, using the data of 34 stem analysis of dominant trees. To determine the site index, the Chapman-Richards, Gompertz, Logistic and Schumacher growth models were tested using the guide curve method. The Chapman-Richards model was the best model since it showed the lowest value of MSE=7.4891 and the highest value of R2 =0.9845; in addition, the studentized residuals had constant variance resulting on an uniform distribution.
