Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine the effect of postplanting irrigations number and nitrogen dosages on cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) seed yield and quality. The variety “CIAN Precoz” was tested at four N dosages (0, 80, 160, and 200 kg ha-1) and three irrigation levels (two, three and four post-planting irrigations), regarding lint and seed cotton yields, and seed quality, determine by standard seed germination and accelerated aging tests, which including radicle length and seedling dry weight. The results showed that lint and seed cotton yields increased as the irrigation number increased. As N dosages increased, seed cotton yields also increased, but yield was the same with 80 and 200 kg ha-1. The irrigation number and N dosages did not affect seed quality.
