DROUGHT STREES EFFECT ON THE ELECTROPHORETIC PATTERNS OF TOTAL PROTEINS IN TWO MAIZE VARIETES
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the present work, it was analyzed the drought strees effect on electrophoretic patterns of total protein of root, stem and leaf of “Criollo Cajete” and Michoacan 21 Compuesto 1-104. These varieties were cultivated under field and greenhouse conditions. Drought strees inhibited and promoted synthesis of some proteins, while the expression of other proteins was not affected. The electrophoretic patterns were different among water treatments, varieties and vegetative organs. Both varieties showed more proteic bands when planted in the greenhouse than when planted under field conditions. In greenhouse condition no changes were observed in the leaf patterns of both varieries. It is concluded that the protein bands found in this study similar molecular weight to those reported in the literature under water streess, could be related.
