Abstract

Progress in the evaluation of selection of local peach ( Prunus persic a L•), in the valley of Aguasc alientes is presented. The maximum yields were 157 and 333,9 kg.' tree for the best selection of 1969 and 1970 respectively; and 222.9 kg/ tree average of 1969 and 1970 for the best selection. Theoretically it is possibleto increase yields by 600 per cent in the sixth and seventh ) years of plantation, since it was obtained with the later selection an annual averange yield of 63.4 ton/ ha. The period of time between the earliest and latest selections was of 51 and 55 days for 1969 and 1970, respectively. A relation· of the most outstanding selections with their characteristics for the two years of observations is presented.
