Abstract

The relationship between macronutrients applied to the soil and the absorption of micronutrients by the plants has not been sufficiently studied in Mexico. This work summarizes the results obtained in four experiments, in which the effect of three rates of phosphorous fertilization was evaluated in several maize !Zea mays L.) genotypes planted in four sites of the States of Jalisco, Michoacan, and Nayarit, in relation to grain yield and minor nutrients accumulation in the plant. Results showed significant increases in maize grain yield with applications of P to the soil in two locations, and that the contents of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn in the plants decreased as the rate of applied P increased.
