Main Article Content
Abstract
Two experiments were carried out during the Autumn-Winter of 1982-1983 and Winter-Spring of 1983 growing seasons, at Papantla, in the northern region of Veracruz. The objective was to asses some management practices applied to dry bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production. The following factors were studied: variety (Local, Jamapa and Negro Huasteco 81), ferti lization (40-40-00 and 00-00-00), pest control (with and without insecticide spraying) and manual weed control (controlling weeds one or twice. There were significant differences for varieties, fertilization and weed control in the Autumn-Winter season. Negro Huasteco 81 had the best performance; there also were significant differences for fertilizing with 40-40-00 and controlling weeds twice. The best treatment in the Winter-Spring season was with Negro Huasteco 81 or Jamapa, fertilizing wi th 40-40- 00 and controlling pests. Results are also discussed considering farmer's financial resources.
