Abstract

In different materials, all related with a square stem, twin plants (identical) often appear from of seeds with two embryos, which through selection offer the possibility of increasing the frequency of this character.

It is well known that the corn embryo contains most of the oil, as well as the greatest quantity and quality of protein in the grain; Therefore, there would be a considerable increase with the presence of two embryos in one seed. In the present The objectives of the study are: 1. Know the type of inheritance of the twin stem character; and 2. Increase the frequency of the twin stem phenotype through recurrent selection, and the results of the selection carried out on progenies that segregate towards this mutant are presented.
