PERFORMANCE AND ADAPTATION OF THE D-145 LINE TOLERANT TO THE GOLDEN BEAN MOSAIC IN THE SOUTHEAST OF MEXICO
Main Article Content
Abstract
Bean golden mosaic virus (BGMV) is one of the most important diseases that reduce the yield of this crop (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in southeastern Mexico, especially in the north of the State of Veracruz. In 1980 and 1981, seven genotypes from the CIAT Cooperative Project (Colombia)-lCTA (Guatemala) and two commercial varieties (Jamapa and Negro Veracruz) were evaluated, in a total of 12 trials distributed in the states of Tamaulipas and Chiapas. The results of the combined analyzes indicated that the yield of line D-145 (1727 kg/ha) was statistically higher than that of Jamapa and Negro Veracruz (1240 and 1305 kg/ha, respectively). Furthermore, D-145 showed tolerance to BGMV; However, the two commercial varieties were susceptible.
