PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF THE PEACH TREE UNDER SEASONAL CONDITIONS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Nutrition plays an important role on the fruit development arid product ion of a tree. Since the leaves are indicators of the nutritional status of the tree, in this research the nutritional status of peach trees grown under rainfed conditions was measured by foliar analyses. This research was conducted during 1982, by sampling mature leaves from seven orchards every 15 days, from May to July. The leaf samples were processed to measure mineral elements with an atomic absorption apparatus. The essential elements N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe and Mn were found in adequate levels, while Zn and B showed low concentration levels in normal trees. In chlorotic trees, nitrogen was the only nutrient element found in a lower concentration as compared to normal trees.
