BACKGROUND AND HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF PHYSIOTECHNICS IN THE "ANTONIO NARRO" AUTONOMOUS AGRARIAN UNIVERSITY
Main Article Content
Abstract
The antecedents of Physiotechnics at the Autonomous Agrarian University "AntonioB Narro" (UAA"AN"), date back to the
first contributions of research and agricultural development made by some groups of graduates of the institution, in which they considered the morphological, physiological and resistance to adverse environmental factors criteria, for the introduction,
selection and genetic improvement of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), corn (Zea mays L.), cactus
(Opuntia spp.) and grasses, mainly. Furthermore, these professionals who graduated from the then "Antonio Narro" Higher School of Agriculture (ESAAN), by meeting annually at their alumni conventions, or by teaching classes and conducting local research, instilled in the students the importance of considering plant performance as the integration and the resulting dynamic relationships between the genotype and the environment. This document presents a brief historical review of the formation of the UAA"AN", as well as the main activities of these work teams.
