Abstract
The development of an academic discipline in a university institution can occur in two circumstances. The first, for one
structural need of the state or society that directly or indirectly generates an action by the administrative body of the institution, an action that is directed towards the teaching community for its implementation and execution. The second, due to scientific or pragmatic concerns, or both, of the teaching community that generates an action towards the environment (students, area of influence of the institution, etc.) and that becomes a reality towards the administrative body, which It supports it partially or totally, and finally it is consolidated. In the Faculty of Agronomy of the UANL (FAUANL), the development of Physiotechnics occurred due to the combination of the two previous circumstances. On the one hand, starting in 1975, the FAUANL administrative body faced a growth in the demand for education that forced the hiring of personnel, making the decision that they would be specialized and with experience in the subjects to be taught; At the same time, the research policy at the UANL was to promote it through
of research centers. Thus, the academic community that was established found conditions at FAUANL to make both teaching and research approaches, which gradually became consolidated, the latter depending on the dynamics of who made them and their need. The actions and approaches made by the FAUANL teaching community that, together with the students and administrative body, allowed the development of Physiotechnics, were three: a) The initial hiring of personnel with training in Physiotechnics (in this case, the author of the present work), which gave rise to the beginning of the thesis with a physiotechnical orientation and the beginning and formalization of permanent research projects; b) New hiring of personnel trained in Physiotechnics to meet the growing teaching needs and their incorporation into research projects, as well as their promotion to postgraduate studies for their subsequent reincorporation into the FAUANL; e) The creation of postgraduate studies and terminal undergraduate courses, which included the teaching of Physiotechnics. The objective of this work is to offer a historical synthesis of the development of Physiotechnics at FAUANL. To do this, it will be reported how the three aforementioned actions were implemented, and then consider the current orientation of the Physiotechnics courses, their academic impact and the perspectives of this discipline at FAUANL.
