Abstract

With the purpose of contributing to the solution of the problems inherent to the increase in agricultural production and the improvement of the well-being of rural producers, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico established, in 1973, the School of Agriculture to train Agricultural Engineers in the specialties in Phytotechnics, Zootechnics and Agricultural Industries and more recently, in Agricultural Production. For this purpose, there are four Academic Units, located in the towns of El Cerrillo de Piedras Blancas, Temascaltepec, Amecameca and Zumpango. To date, 14 generations have graduated, comprising around 1,369 agricultural engineers, with the current enrollment being around 550 students. However, the teaching of Plant Physiotechnics is not included at the bachelor's level. Once the teaching staff was consolidated and considering the need to contribute to the training of more specialists in the field of Plant Breeding, the then School of Agriculture proposed the establishment of the Master of Science in Plant Breeding, which began its activities in 1985 and allowed raise your rank to Faculty. The essential objectives of this master's degree are: - Promote the training of high-level teachers, specialists and researchers who contribute elements to the solution of regional and national agricultural problems. - Prepare and promote professional experts, teachers and researchers to higher scientific and technological levels in the areas of Plant Genetics, Plant Genetics, Plant Physiotechnics and the Experimental Scientific Method. As can be seen, the teaching of Plant Physiotechnics is part of the objectives of the Master of Science in Plant Breeding granted by this University.
