CORN CULTIVATION: CLIMATIC REQUIREMENTS

Main Article Content

Robert H Shaw

Abstract

Corn, due to its very diverse types, grows in a wide range of climatic conditions. Some cultivars grow very little, others reach 6 to 8 m in height; some require 60 to 70 days after emergence to reach grain maturity, others require 10 to 11 months. Notwithstanding this variation in characteristics, the general features of the main production areas can be characterized and, for particular areas, very specific environmental relationships can be shown.
