Abstract

This article is based on a literature review. In this first part, studies are mentioned in which the criteria used to choose the initial material are analyzed, observing that they have been fundamentally performance and ecological-geographical reasons; Some aspects of germplasm introductions are also discussed and some ideas about genetic resources for the future are presented, noting that these will be fundamentally the product of plant breeding and that the new Outstanding creoles detected, as well as introductions, will only play a complementary role; In addition to the conservation of Creole germplasm, other tasks are assigned to the germplasm banks.
