Abstract
In the Fraylesca region of the state of Chiapas in México, it has been determinated that a limitant factor on the yield of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in the system called "relay system of maize (Zea mays L.)" is the soil moisture during the reproductive stages of the beans. For this reason two varieties of maize: one of late maturity (V-524) and one of early maturity (V-424) combined with two varieties of beans, also one of late maturity (Negro Huasteco-81) and one of early maturity (Sesentano), were studied in three locations and three sowing dates. The results showed that early beans variety yielded better than the late one and that the two maize varieties yielded similarly; the early sowing dates showed to be better than the late one and that the two maize varieties
yielded similarly; the early sowing dates showed to be better than late ones; and clear differences between locations were recorded.
