Abstract

In 1989, a research was carried out at one "ejido" (a common land property area) in the State of Zacatecas in order to learn about the communication media by which the farmers usually obtain infomation on agricultural and husbandry methods, as well as to measure the relationship among the level of exposure to communication media and the variables: age, curriculum, organization, cosmopolitism, degree of contact with institutions of the husbandry sector, monthly income, size of the common land, exploited area, technological level and degree of contact with extensionists. A stratified sample with proportional assignment of the population was selected to compile the information according to a questionnaire. Results indicated that more famers watch T.V. than listen to the radio. The level of exposure to the communication media showed a negative association with age, but a positive one with tbe curriculum, with the degree of contact with institutions of the husbandry sector, with the technological level, and with the degree of contact with extensionists.
