HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF HYDROGEN CYANAMIDE IMPROVE BUD BREAK IN PISTACHO
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hydrogen cyanami4e (H2CN2) at concentrations of 2.5 and 5.0% was applied to ten years pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) trees comming from seed of the Kerman cultivar, after these trees acumulated 457 heat units. This treatments increased significatly the porcentage of bud break and also this stage was 11 days earlier with respect to the control. The pistachio buds applied with H2CN2 at 2.5 and 5.0% showed 26 and 45.5% bud break respectively, and were superior to bud break of control which was only 4.5%. Branches of one and two years old showed the greatest bud break; however, comparing the bud break stimulus against the control, this was greater on branches of 4 and 5 years old.
