Abstract

The effect of gibberelic acid (GA3), urea, ethrel and flower removal, on the runner production of two strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) cultivars, was evaluated at Montecillo, State of México. Results showed that the cv Tioga was more vigorous and had more runners per plant than the cv CP84S. GA3, urea, ethrel and flower remotion did not aftect the runner production; however, GA3 reduced the number of leaves and root carbohydrate content, and increased the runner length ( distance from the mother plant to the first daughter plant). Urea reduced the root carbohydnlte content and ethrel reduced the runner length.
