RESISTANCE SOURCE TO Tilletia indica MITRA IN GENOTYPES DERIVED FROM Triticum aesticum X Triticosecale

Abstract
Experimental lines produced from Triticum aestivum X Triticosecale have been identified lo be resistant to Tilletia indica, the causal agent of the partial bunt disease of wheat. Plants were artificially inoculated at the boot stage with a sporidial suspension of 10,000 m1-1 at three sowing dates at CIANO, Cd. Obregon, Sonora, during four wheat cycle (1988-91). The percent infection of the lines tested, based on the number of healthy and infected grains, ranged from 0.26-1.87, while the susceptible check hada mean of 63.5%.
