EXPANSION OF THE ADAPTATION AREAS OF SORGHUM (Sorghun bicolor (L.) Moench). l. ANALYSIS OF THE PRODUCTIVE POTENTIAL OF TOLERANT GENOTYPES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cold tolerance (CT), earl iness and grain yield of grain sorghum experimental varieties (SEV), which were bred for cultivation in the high valleys of México, were evaluated. These SEV had both lower grain yield and earliness as compared to the genetic sources for these traits. The concept of "cold insensitivity¨¨ (CI) during the planting-anthesis period is discussed. CI is proposed as a different and independent trait with respect to earl iness (days to anthesis) and CT.
