Main Article Content
Abstract
Among the purposes of the Mexican Society of Phytogenetics (SOMEFI), they include disseminating knowledge and research results in the various disciplines of Phytogenetics; promote teaching and research in such disciplines in Mexico, as well as promote relations with Mexican or foreign societies that pursue similar objectives. To this end, among other actions, SOMEFI has been regularly publishing the magazines Fitotecnia (Revista Fitotecnia Mexicana, since 1988) and Germen; Additionally, as a means of continuous liaison between the National Board and the members of the Society, the Information Bulletin is published.
The Editorial Committee and the National Board of Directors, currently in office, have considered it advisable to carry out modifications in these media, which are in accordance with the evolution that the Society has been experiencing in recent years and which is reflected in the increase of the number of members, their academic level and consequently, the greater diversification of the areas they cultivate.
The modifications that will be made to Germen magazine have the purpose of increasing the number of publications per year and improving its quality and content, establishing standards and defining the objectives and scope of this magazine. In this sense, Germen magazine aims to be a broad forum of expression at the service of SOMEFI members, where critical review articles or monographs will be published, written individually or collectively; as well as articles that, due to their content and depth, can attract the attention of a broad sector of members. As a complement to these articles, letters expressing opinions or comments on topics of interest to SOMEFI members will be accepted for publication.
